Blog Free Choice:Week 13

The book Room is getting very interesting as I am reading throughout the novel. As I was reading the novel Room I was very shocked about the whole Jack and his Ma escaping from the Room. I was thinking Jack was going to get caught by Old Nick if he coughs or moved and the truck in Ma was going to end up getting killed By Old Nick. Ma has figured out a plan and Jack had to do it  there plan was  Jack had to pretend he was Sick when Old Nick gets home in Old Nick was going to put him into his Truck to take him to the hospital in when Old Nick stop at a stop sign Jack had to get out the car in run than show someone on the sidewalk a note his mother wrote so they can call the Police in than the police was going to  Save Ma by shooting or breaking the door down.  Although, I couldn’t even put the book down because the novel was getting so good to where there was stuff actually happening. I really think there should be a movie called Room because the novel is really good and I think alot of people would want to see a movie based on a mother in her five year old son living in a Room in trying to escape. The movie should be plotting points that are similar to the novel.  Finally, Jack has did the plan just right like his mother told him and he has made his mother so happy in I was very happy in shocked as well because now Jack is able to see what the real world looks like.

Guided Response 12

Discuss your ideas about the main character. Is the character worthy of praise or criticism? Why?

My Opinion about Jack who is the main character and the novel Room by Emma Donoghue. I think His ma needs to have  a younger sibling for him so he can have someone to play with and watch television with so he won’t have to do those two things by himself anymore.  Jack needs to go out to see how the real world is  because certain things he watches on television is unreal. Alot of things he say in the novel is very awkward in funny at times it seems to me that he doesn't know if certain things are real or fake.  I think he watches too much television and the room because certain things he says ive year olds don’t suppose to say. Also, his ma needs to put him into a school  close by Old Nick house so he can get an education because he seems very smart to be only five years old. As I was reading, his ma had to correct him from saying a couple of things most of the time  because he said it the wrong way but that’s what parents are for to help out so ma tells him how to say it correctly. When he gets into school I’m sure he will have much better speaking skills and grammar skills as he reach higher grade levels. Jack is criticism because the description the authors choose for Jack is very annoying because I know most five year olds don’t talk the way author said they do.  Example, most five year olds do have smart mouths such as talking back to there parents.

Free Choice:

I have questions about the novel Room: A Novel by Emma Donoghue.

What questions do I have about the text?

What problems will Ma faced if her and Zach moved out of the room, they are on their own?

What did Jack Call him Old Nick?

Why didn’t Ma let Jack leave the Room?

Did Ma ever date Old Nick?

Does Ma like to live in the Room?

Does Jack feel comfortable living in the room with his mother?

Why does Jack don’t go to school?

What made the Author write this book?

Will Ma ever let Jack go to school?

Will Ma ever date Old Nick?

Why the author does chose to tell the story of room through Jack?

What would you ask for Sunday treat if you were Ma or Jack?

What made you write this book?

Does Jack like to be in the same room as his mother all day?

How long will Old Nick have to take care of Ma and her son?

Would you tell Jack about the outside world?

What if Ma have not given birth to Jack, what do you think her life would be like living in the room all by herself?

What would you do differently if you were Jack parent?

What is the relationship between Old Nick and Ma?

Would you want to know more information about Old Nick in the novel?

Would you tell Jack the difference between situations he is watching on television and situations based on the real world?

Guided Response :Week 10

The novel “Room,” is based on the point of view of the narrator, a 5-year-old boy named Jack who lives in his physical world. He lives with his mother an 11-by-11-foot room. He will be there his entire life with his mother against her will.  To me it seems like they are living the prison life. Jack does not seem trapped about being in the same room with his mother all day. Around the room jack mother assigned him to read, exercise and sing so he can have something to do around the room. He also sleeps, eats, baths, learn and play. He gave his mother a nickname which he called her Ma.  His mother gives him a present and it was wrapped with rule paper in a purple ribbon around it. Jack mother was an artist when he was sleep she put the light on him and drew him. She surprises him when he wakes up, by showing him all the pictures she has drawn and he reacts as if he likes them he wanted to hang them up but, he couldn’t.  I learn how he lives in the room and how he spends his days. At night Jack sleeps and Wardrobe to hide from Old Nick the man who brings him and his mother food in has captive his ma for several years. I really think that she is getting tired of living that life style. Jack has never been anywhere in the world except in the room. He is getting older I think he should be able to see what life is like in the real world.  Although, I Don’t think this book is for sensitive readers. I recommend this book to young adults because this is a great book in I think they will like it.

Week 9: Free Choice Blog.

I am very excited about reading the book Room: A Novel by Emma Donoghue for my reading 104 class. I will end up buying the book or renting it from the ICC's library or any other library in Peoria. Furthermore My own opinion, I think this book is going to be very interesting I also, think that the book is based on girls stories/situations from the title of the book and a lot of the situations will end up happening only in the room. Also, it might be a main character that is a girl and is very shy in going through some trials and tribulations in life where the readers can relate to some of the situations because they might have been through the same thing. I chose to read the novel Room because my reading teacher Stephanie recommended it to the class. She had to read it because she was in a book club and she was telling us how good the book is. She really encouraged me to read it. Although, I enjoy reading different books especially drama books and stories based on real life situations. Me and my friend Amy who is in my reading class as well we both are going to read the book Room and we have been talking about the book all today were both excited, we will have a page count were we both will read the same pages on the same day and have a group discussion about the book along with the other girls in our reading class..
